Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony for Falcon Hill ICBM Building

HILL AIR FORCE BASE, Utah (March 12, 2012) – Hunt Companies, Inc., Woodbury Corporation, and Hill Air Force Base are pleased to announce the grand opening of the first commercial building at Falcon Hill National Aerospace Research Park. The date will be commemorated with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on March 12 at 9 a.m. Guest speakers at the event will include Utah Governor Gary Herbert, Senator Orrin Hatch, Tom Vice, President of Northrop Grumman Technical Services, and Michael Gill, Ogden Air Logistics Center Executive Director. This first commercial building is a 151,783 square foot build-to-suit facility for the ICBM Prime Integration Team led by Northrop Grumman, and is designed and constructed to meet Air Force requirements. The facility was constructed by Ogden based R&O Construction with the 75th Civil Engineer Group’s approval and Northrop Grumman’s full participation. The lease between Northrop Grumman and Falcon Hill developer, Sunset Ridge Development Partners – a partnership between Woodbury Corporation and Hunt Companies – was signed in September 2010 and the facility will be fully occupied starting in April of this year. Congressman Rob Bishop added, “This ribbon cutting and opening of this state-of-the art integrated ICBM facility represents a major milestone achievement for the future of Hill AFB and the 526th ICBM Support Group. It would be nearly impossible to quantify this facility’s level of significance and what it represents. Not only will it facilitate efficiencies in the management of the ICBM fleet, it will also pave the way for future partnerships between the Air Force and the private sector at Falcon Hill. In addition, it will continue to bring numerous benefits for the military and the local community for decades to come. I am extremely appreciative of all those who made this facility a reality, including the Ogden Air Logistics Center leadership, Northrop Grumman, and the hard-working, dedicated civilian and military workforce who, together, maintain our nation’s critical land-based ICBM fleet.” This is the largest enhanced use lease in Air Force history and the first to use a purely commercial model. It is estimated that 15,000 new aerospace industry jobs and approximately 60,000 additional jobs will be generated by the completion of the Falcon Hill project. Media interested in attending this event should contact Richard Essary, Hill AFB Public Affairs, at (801) 940-7265. Please plan to arrive at the West Gate Visitor’s Center no later than 8:30 a.m. on the day of the event, where transportation will be provided to and from the on-base ceremony.
