Kilauea, Kauai, Hawaii, Feb. 18, 2021 — Busy leasing activity continues at Ahuimanu, a community gathering place unique to the North Shore of Kauai.
Recently signed tenants will take the neighborhood center to 81% occupancy from 53% over the past 12 months, despite the challenging economic environment.
Ahuimanu is excited to welcome Kauai Athletic Club (operating as Kilauea Phys Ed), Avalon Gastropub, Kenji Burger, North Shore Chiropractic Clinic and the real estate companies Hawaii Life, Stay Hawaii and Compass Realty.
The 42,000-square-foot center – anchored by the 12,700-square-foot grocery store-restaurant Kilauea Market + Café – features a mix of businesses and community services. These are mainly established Kauai companies expanding their operations from other parts of the island to better serve customers on the North Shore.
Kilauea Phys Ed will occupy the 5,400-square-foot building mauka of the Kilauea Market + Café as the third club location of the fitness group. Fitness machines, weights, group classes and personal training will be that much more convenient for North Shore residents with the opening of this latest location.
The opening of Avalon Gastropub (2,100 square feet) in late 2021 will mark the homecoming of sorts for Ali and Gabe Avalon, who are part of the Kilauea community. Their current eatery-and-craft-bar in Kapaa will re-locate to Ahuimanu and occupy a space with a large lanai, allowing them to offer dining customers indoor and outdoor seating options.
Kenji Burger (900 square feet) will also open in Ahuimanu in late 2021. Located near Kai Bar, this will be the third location for the popular island eatery – and the only one on the North Shore. Kenji Burger, featured on “Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives” in 2019, is renowned for its 100% Kauai grass-fed beef burgers and fresh sushi-roll burritos.
North Shore Chiropractic Clinic will open at Ahuimanu this spring after re-locating from Princeville. Chiropractor Danny Argulo and staff offer a full complement of chiropractic services, as well as injury rehabilitation, cold laser, muscle stimulation and ultrasound therapies. The 650-square-foot clinic will be located in the building next to Java Kai.
Leading real estate company Hawaii Life will open a 1,700-square-foot office location in the building mauka of the Historic Stone Building; with the addition of this Kauai office, its agents and other specialists will better serve the Garden Island. The company focuses on real estate sales, property management and rentals, both long- and short-term. Hawaii Life is the exclusive statewide affiliate of Christie’s International Real Estate.
National company Compass Realty is opening its first Kauai location in 880 square feet in Ahuimanu. It is anticipated to open around summer 2021 near Kauai Government Employees Federal Credit Union to provide expertise for real estate sales and rentals.
Stay Hawaii – assisting with Kauai-wide real estate sales and vacation rentals – will open in this spring in a 650-square-foot location in the same building as North Shore Chiropractic.
“The arrival of these local businesses at Ahuimanu will serve the North Shore community and provide nearby residents with a thriving village center that offers enhanced shopping, services and new dining options,” explains Mike Lam, Senior Vice President of Hunt. “The speed at which our team has been able to do this at Ahuimanu speaks to both their diligence and the desire of local small businesses to be closer to their North Shore customers.”
